Fred Setterberg is the author of The Roads Taken: Travels Through America's Literary Landscapes, winner of the Associated Writing Program's award in creative nonfiction. He edited Travelers' Tales America, and co-authored five other books, including Toxic Nation: The Fight To Save Our Communities From Chemical Contamination, written with Lonny Shavelson. His reporting and essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Nation, The Southern Review, The Iowa Review, and scores of other national and regional magazines. He is the recipient of a NEA fellowship and numerous journalism awards.
